A German-engineered tool watch legend, re-crafted for nautical adventure in the San Francisco Bay Area
Designed in collaboration with San Francisco-based collecting group 49Crowns, this limited edition Mühle Glashütte S.A.R. Rescue Timer continues the longstanding traditions of this purpose-built nautical tool watch, albeit with a few key embellishments, key of which is a fully luminous dial and a perfectly symmetrical, time-only display. Also unique to this reference is the inclusion of three different strap options, from the H-link style stainless steel bracelet to the excellent integrated rubber strap and a Bund style leather strap. The 49Crowns group logo can be visible just above 6H on the dial, an effect not unlike viewing the Golden Gate Bridge as it emerges from the Bay's legendary fog.
The function and design of the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer were essentially shaped by the coxswains – the fast boat and sea cruiser captains of Germany's elite search-and-rescue teams. In any wind and weather, these brave men and women come to the rescue of seafarers in distress, while relying on best-in-class instruments to help perform their duties. Their experience and practical input resulted in a superbly capable and highly legible tool watch that is more than up to any challenge.
